Favorite movie quote:"You don't know what you can't do."
                                 from 'Runaway Train'

Rick Rose lives in Phoenix, AZ with his wife and their dogs, Kita & Bentley. Rick doesn’t keep a parrot but sponsors one at The Oasis Sanctuary

Rick's checkered career path laid a perfect foundation for his writing. He's been a busboy, waiter, salesman, retail manager, limousine driver, private investigator, computer wizard and real estate professional. Rick holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology

He plays a Fender Stratocaster through a custom set of sound twisters powered by a Marshall amp. Favorite artists include Calexico, Neil Young and Maglich.

This book was born on a boat ride from Lahaina to the island of Lanai in 1999. I was seated behind two people incapable of un-vocalized thoughts (you know the type). I recall thinking "These two will never shut up. They're like parrots and parrots live a long time." The next thought was "Why not write a story from a parrot's point of view?" I'd never considered myself a writer but from that moment my path was clear - this story simply had to be written.  I borrowed a pencil from my new best friends and since then I've thought of little else. Not being a writer, I was unecumbered by issues like the limited physical characteristics and vocabulary of my protagonist or the fact that this story defies genre. I was told that the  idea of a bird telling the story was unmarketable. But I found people who believed in Theo and their encouragement gave him wings and a strong voice.

My message to you is that anything's possible. Anything. If you can dream it, you can create it. I hope to see you in that magical place.
